New Infirmary Makes Hanover Proud

In authoritative dictionaries the word salubrious means healthy, wholesome, respectable, decent, hygienic and clean, and those was the words on everyone’s lips on November 22, 2013, at the opening of the new Hanover infirmary.
Minister of Local Government, Hon. Noel Arscott and his entourage beamed with pride at the beauty of the new facilities, and the general ambience had everyone smiling from ear to ear.

From its prime location along the Lucea coast, wafted by gentle sea breezes, many of the persons in the audience who had never set foot on the soil, were pleasantly surprised at the environment the residents of the 50 year-old institution enjoyed.
With churches in touching distance, as well as the parish library, the Hanover Museum, Lucea Hospital and Watson Taylor Park, the Infirmary is hard to beat. And the 50 residents seated out in their wheel chairs or on other seats of their choice savoured the presence of their many visitors to their hearts content.

Mayor Shernet Haughton praised the participation of stakeholders such as the CHASE Fund, and her Parish Council predecessors who struggled to see to the completion of the project, as well as paying tribute to the Staff of the Infirmary for their determination.
Mayor Haughton thanked also other supporters of the Infirmary, among them the Roman Catholic Church who was called on numerous occasions to house the residents of the Infirmary during an impending storm, because of the fragility of the old buildings.
